The Mathematics Placement Test

The math placement test is used for a variety of courses to determine your present mathematics ability. You will be required to take this test if you are registering in MATH 1111 or Math 1151 and you may be asked to take it if you are registering in MATH 1011. For Math 1111 and Math 1151 students, you are required to pass this test in order to stay in the course.

A sample of the placement test is available in Moodle as an online self-test. You can take it at any time before term begins and as many times as you like.: You are strongly encouraged to complete this self-test before attempting the official test.

Two printable versions of math placement tests are available for download. They will give you a sense of the prior mathematics ability that is required for success in a first year calculus course:
